Monastère de Santa Maria de Montsió

Discover one of the most unique heritage sites in Esplugues de Llobregat. The Monastery of Santa María de Montsió is a one-of-a-kind architectural complex that combines history, art, and nature, and today stands as a new cultural and tourist point of interest in the municipality.

Its most emblematic feature is the magnificent 14th-century Gothic cloister, a jewel of medieval heritage that invites visitors to stroll among arches and capitals full of history, and to uncover its remarkable story, which includes two relocations, stone by stone.

The complex is completed by the monastic church, the spectacular gardens, and the modernist-inspired Can Casanovas farmhouse.

This tour allows visitors to explore areas that were completely closed until recently. It is an indoor and outdoor route that reveals the history of the site, lets visitors enter new spaces, and provides insight into the lives and experiences of the women who lived there.
